HPW utilizes the principles of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) approach for food safety. This approach was adopted by  the IBWA in 2002 and annual audits of our Co-Packer include a review of our HACCP program as well as GMP compliance. HPW’s  and the IBWA’s voluntary implementation of HACCP in the bottled water industry is based partially on the HACCP regulatory  requirements set by the Codex Alimentarius Commission and the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and FDA.

In recent years, retailers have adopted Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards. In the U.S., the primary codification is SQF. SQF consists of three levels with the highest-level being Level 3, a level that includes a Quality Management System (QMS). HPW’s bottling  plant was the second bottler in the U.S. to be certified by SQF. The HPW facility is certified at Level 3 which is necessary for distribution of  product by national chains and retailers. Our facility annually embarks upon a complete review of its Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).  Coupled with this evaluation of our operations, we commenced the implementation of procedures and protocols dictated by the facets of SQF and ISO 9001:2000.

All processes are managed in accordance with the requirements of SQF and ISO 9001:2000.

Our bottling facility has implemented a quality management system that is continuously maintained for effectiveness and improvement opportunities in accordance with the requirements of SQF and ISO 9001:2000. Customer, statutory or regulatory requirements are communicated to the organization to assure customer satisfaction. Through the Quality Policy and other established quality objectives, top management of our facility is committed to continually improve our processes and the effectiveness of the quality management system.

Regular management reviews are conducted to evaluate the quality management system and ensure the availability of appropriate resources.
